A Breif History OF The Essex Senior League.

The Essex Senior League was only formed in 1971 but since has grown to be one of the most well respected leagues within the FA's National League System.
Member clubs have won the FA Challenge Vase on three occasions- Billericay Town in 1975-76 and 1976-77 along with Stansted in 1983-84.
Our league has provided and promoted more clubs to the Isthmian League (Ryman League) than any of the other league feeders.
Many players have had a grounding in the league before playing at a higher level, also players of some pedigree and quality the likes of Jimmy Greaves, Alan Brazil, Kerry Dixon, Steve Tilson and more recently Michael Knightly have all plied their trade in the Senior League at some stage.
New or re-formed clubs such as Enfield Town and AFC Hornchurch have choosen the Essex Senior League to return to in a bid to rise to former glories.
Member clubs have won numerous county cups including the prestigious East Anglian Cup.
Many famous non league names have graced the competition such as Billericay Town, Canvey Island, Clapton, Ilford, and Romford to name a few.
