LEAGUE CUP FINAL WINNERS ARE 'THE MANOR'
Eton Manor 3 Concord Rangers 2 Att 519
A thrilling 1st half at the Len Salmon Stadium on a sweltering afternoon produced a super show of football to keep the Bumper bank holiday crowd entertained. All the goals coming in the opening period with Manor taking an early two goal lead against the newly crowned league champions. Concord to their credit showed glimpses of form and replyed with two well taken goals which should have seen the sides go in level at the break. It was Manor who would just edge the half with a goal just before half time making it 3-2.
The second half mainly had Concord camped in the Manor half with many in the crowd expecting the tie to go to extra time. The goal never came despite lots of Rangers pressure Manor defending well led by captain Steve Willis who was impressive throuought. After a few nervy minuites of added time Manor would celebrate a deserved Cup final win ending Manors season on a high a season to remember and a great advert to bring the curtain down on a superb Essex Senior season.
CONCORD RANGERS CROWNED CHAMPIONS
On a hot afternoon at Oakside 261 spectators witnessed the end to a superb Senior League Season.
Concord having the better of early exchanges but finding it hard to break down a resolute Barkingside rear guard. Half time came and had the few Enfield supporters in the big crowd looking at the possibility of a Title had the scores stayed the same after 90 mins. This prospect was almost a reality as Barkingside from a long throw had the ball in the net midway into the second period only to be ruled out after the throw was deemed not to have taken a touch before crossing the line. Tackles were flying in and just minuites later Concord scored the title winning goal to scenes of mass celebration, A few nervy minuites remained as Barkingside to their credit pushed hard but to no avail.
The final whistle went and the party began as Concord were crowned Champions 2007-2008.
